About this event

Organised by the ABBL Foundation since 2015, with the support of the Ministry of Education in Luxembourg, this project aims to strengthen financial education competences within a population of youth aged 10 to 12 years old, through an in-class activity of about 2 hours.

ALFI has been providing human power to the project since 2022. Volunteers from our member companies have contributed time to make learning easy and fun. We are particularly proud of our engaged teams and members who organise their very busy agendas to make a difference in financial education.

Money Odyssey: an educational mobile application

The school activity proposed as part of the project will be conducted by using the 2.0 version of the mobile application, Money Odyssey. Based on the feedback received last year, this tool has been further improved to include a multi-player mode for students to challenge each other, more options in budgeting decisions, more financial products available and a tutorial to help volunteers get to grips with the app.

Volunteers will also be provided with additional teaching material to prepare their intervention early March.

 Themes covered include:

  • Understanding the importance of money in daily life and fostering critical thinking skills before making financial decisions.
  • Distinguishing between needs and desires.
  • Learning how to effectively manage a budget.
  • Exploring the role of banks and the characteristics of different payment methods.
  • Exploring concepts of saving and investing.
  • Promoting sustainability and responsible finance.
  • Understanding how to protect oneself against financial scams.
  • An introduction to cryptocurrencies.

The teacher of each participating class can choose up to a maximum of three topics that will be discussed in the classroom.
