About this event

ABBL, ALFI, and the CSSF are regularly organising joint events and webinars to provide high level insights on current topics.

The scope and nature of terrorist threats have considerably intensified in the recent years, with terrorist attacks completed in many cities across the world, including in Europe, and with the continued threat posed by several globally active terrorist organisations. Terrorists continue to exploit the financial system to raise, move and use funds for their operations. Therefore, disrupting and preventing terrorist financing transactions both of individual terrorists and large terrorist organisations is key to combat the global threat to international peace and security. Without money and assets, their ability to commit terrorist acts is weakened.

The role to be played by financial sector professionals, also in Luxembourg, is thus critical for the prevention of this global threat.

The CRF/CSSF conference held along with ABBL and ALFI, will bring together different experts on the fight against terrorism financing, including risk specialists, representatives from relevant public authorities, as well as from the financial sector.

This conference will help attendees to learn in a first part about the underlying risks, including legal risks, supervisory views and implementation of targeted financial sanctions, and in a second part, to hear about insights from CRF work and practical implementation by several actors of the financial sector.
