Christophe Schiltz is the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Italy, Malta and San Marino, ambassador-designate to Croatia, as well as the Permanent representative to the Rome based UN Agencies (FAO, IFAD and WFP).
Currently, he is also the Chairperson of the Governing Council Bureau of IFAD (2024-2026) and a member of the United Nations CERF Advisory group (2024-2027).
Prior to his appointment as ambassador and permanent representative, Christophe Schiltz was the Director general for Development cooperation and humanitarian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg (MFA). Before that he served as General Coordinator for Development cooperation and humanitarian Affairs and minister plenipotentiary at the MFA (2020-2022) and Head of the Legal Service of the MFA (2016-2020). He began his career as a diplomat at the MFA in 2006.
In parallel, from November 2013 until September 2024, Christophe Schiltz served as member (2013-2024), Vice-president (2024) and President (2021-2024) of the Council of State of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
He is also a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, The Netherlands.
M. Schiltz holds an MA in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges (Belgium) (2004), an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom)(2003), a Masters (maîtrise) in private law from the University of Strasbourg (France) (2002) as well as an undergraduate college diploma in legal studies from King’s College London (United Kingdom) (2001).
Christophe Schiltz is a Grand Officier in the Ordre de la Couronne de chêne of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (2023).
