Lau​rent Schmidt is a ma​na​ging as​so​cia​te in the Cor​po​ra​te/M&A De​part​ment of Wal​der Wyss in Ge​n​e​va. He ad​vi​ses Swiss and for​eign cli​ents in cor​po​ra​te law, as well as in
ban​king and fi​nan​ci​al mar​ket law. He spe​cia​li​zes in ad​vi​sing com​pa​nies on mer​gers, acqui​si​ti​ons andpri​va​te equi​ty tran​sac​tions, and also re​‐pres​ents cli​ents in all type of con​trac​tu​al and com​mer​ci​al dis​pu​tes.
In 2012, Lau​rent Schmidt ob​tai​ned his law de​gree (MLaw, bi​lin​gu​al
French/Ger​man) from the Uni​ver​si​ty of Fri​bourg. He was ad​mit​ted to the Ge​n​e​va Bar in Fe​bru​ary 2015, ran​king first of his class. Be​fo​re joi​ning Wal​der Wyss in March 2016, he worked as an as​so​cia​te for ano​ther busi​ness law firm ba​sed in
Ge​n​e​va, whe​re he had pre​vious​ly com​ple​ted his at​tor​ney trai​nee​ship. Pri​or to that,
Lau​rent Schmidt was an in​tern at the Swiss Fe​de​ral Cri​mi​nal Court in Bel​‐lin​zo​na, as well as at a ma​jor phar​ma​ceu​ti​cal com​pany in Ba​sel. Bet​ween May 2020 and June 2023,
Lau​rent Schmidt ac​ted as in​hou​se se​ni​or le​gal ad​vi​sor in the le​gal de​part​ment of a
re​now​ned Swiss pri​va​te ban​king group head​quar​‐te​red in Ge​n​e​va.

Lau​rent Schmidt works in French, Ger​man and English, and has fair know​ledge of
Ita​li​an. He is re​gis​ter​ed with the Ge​n​e​va bar and is ad​mit​ted to prac​ti​ce in all
Swit​zer​land.
