Koichi Matsushita was appointed Chairman of the Investment Trusts Association, Japan (JITA) in June 2023. He is committed to the stable and sound development of the asset management industry and the promotion of "shift from savings to asset building". His major initiatives since assuming the Chairman of JITA include the "New NISA (Nippon Individual Savings Account) Seminar" held in four cities (Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo) to promote the New NISA that will be launched in January 2024. He presented JITA’s basic approach to realizing the policy of " Promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center," which was approved by the Kishida Cabinet in June 2023.
Prior to his appointment as JITA Chairman, Matsushita served as director and executive vice president of Daiwa Securities Group Inc. and president and representative director of Daiwa Asset Management Co. Ltd. He began his career at Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd. in 1984 after graduating from Keio University, where he held key positions in the Global Markets Division.
Chairman
