Martin Parkes, Managing Director, is a member of BlackRock's Government Affairs and Public Policy team based in Paris. Martin is responsible for engaging with policy makers and BlackRock’s clients on policy and regulation in the EU, particularly relating to fund structures, financial stability, investor protection, distribution and retirement.
He is a member of the French Regulator's Asset Management and Institutional Investor Stakeholder Committee (AMF CCGI). He takes an active leadership role in industry associations, currently chairing EFAMA's Fund Regulation Standing Committee. He regularly contributes to BlackRock's ViewPoints and Spotlights policy series.
Martin is also global co-chair of BlackRock’s LGBTQ+ OUT & Allies employee network leading the network's initiatives to support LGBTQ+ talent within BlackRock and more broadly across the industry. Martin is a regular speaker at events on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ community in the industry.
Martin has worked at BlackRock since 2004 and prior to joining the Public Policy team he worked in BlackRock’s legal team responsible for BlackRock's European-managed investment funds. Martin studied European Law at the University of Exeter and at the Université d’Aix-Marseille III and is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
