Ambassador

Georges Friden was appointed Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in September 2022. Before assuming his duties, Georges Friden was the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the European Union in Brussels after being the Deputy Permanent Representative from 2013 to 2016. Prior to 2013, he was the Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg (2009-2013). Georges Friden is qualified as a full member of the Luxembourg Bar, after studies in Law, International Relations and Political Science, at the Centre Universitaire of Luxembourg and the University of Strasbourg (France). He holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Cambridge (UK), and the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). He is currently non-resident Ambassador to Iceland. He is married with three children.
