Ben Goldsmith is the chief executive officer of London-listed investment trust Menhaden Resource Efficiency Plc, which invests in businesses at the forefront of energy and resource efficiency. Previously Ben co-founded WHEB Asset Management, one of Europe’s leading sustainability-focused fund management businesses.
Ben chairs the UK Conservative Environment Network as well as the Conservation Collective. Ben is also a Trustee of UK climate foundation the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.
Ben co-founded the UK Environmental Funders’ Network and was a non-executive director of the U.K. Government's Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from 2018 to 2022.

We are dependent on nature for everything that we do and everything that we have. We are intrinsically connected with the natural world in ways which remain a mystery to us. This is why we yearn for contact with nature. And yet Britain is one of the most nature-depleted country in the world. Now, new markets are starting to grow up in recognition of the things nature does for us, from flood mitigation and water storage to carbon sequestration and the pollination of crops. Consequently a new asset class is emerging in nature restoration, offering a way for us to finance the recovery of nature not just here, but everywhere.
