Jennifer de Nijs leads the Ministry’s Department of the Development of the Financial Center.Jennifer has dedicated significant years to developing sustainable finance in Luxembourg, most notably through her 8-year tenure as the Head of Sustainable Finance at the Ministry of Finance. Her efforts have contributed to the growth of sustainable finance in Luxembourg and beyond, with an initial emphasis on climate, and now also integrating social aspects like gender finance.
She has played a key role in the establishment of a number of Luxembourg based initiatives, notably: the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI), which she helped set up and is now board President; the International Climate Finance Accelerator (ICFA) whose board she chaired in its foundational phase, and the Luxembourg Gender Finance Task Force, which she launched and chairs. Furthermore, she holds key strategic positions as a board member of the SDG Impact Finance Initiative and presides over the board of the Luxembourg Earth Impact Fund (LEIF).
Previous to her government position, Jennifer worked at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, in civil society organisations including Caritas Luxembourg and the European Youth Forum, and in the private sector at Clearstream and American Express.
The Gender Finance Task Force, organised by the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, is made up of diverse representatives from the financial sector and is supported by 7 working groups. Its mission is to promote gender finance within Luxembourg's financial sector by identifying key opportunities and fostering initiatives that advance both "finance for women" and "women in finance." The Task Force aims to develop sector-wide strategies that enable financial actors to implement gender-focused solutions, whether independently or through public-private collaborations. Its efforts align with Luxembourg's strong track record in gender equality, particularly in finance.
