Kai is member of the Management Board of Union Investment Luxembourg S.A. and in charge of Risk Management, Valuation, Corporate Governance and Central Delegation & IT. He started his career in the fund industry 2004 as risk analyst at Union Investment Management Holding, Frankfurt. After an interruption of 4 years, where he hold a management position as conducting officer for Risk and Compliance and as an On-Site inspector at the CSSF, he re-joined Union Investment Group in 2018. He holds a Masters`s degree in Economics from the University of Mainz and is a certified FRM.
Two years ago, the European Risk Management Conference featured a session on “Real assets and semi-open structures”. After the introduction of ELTIF, the panel will take stock of the evolution and progress made in designing new products for retail investors. In this discussion, liquidity remains a central theme as a source of both opportunities and concerns to reach the promises made by ELTIF. In practice, investment managers have substantially called for risk managers help to achieve ELTIF design, launch and operations. The panellists will review what is in the remit of the risk manager is such a project. Drawing from their experience, the ELTIF pioneers will identify the challenges they faced and compare their sometimes diverging responses. The session will conclude on the most important updates to the risk management framework needed to onboard ELTIF products, differentiating between the launching and day-to-day phases.
