Dr. M. Balaji serves as the Deputy Chief of Mission (and Charge d'Affaires) at the Embassy of India in Brussels, representing India to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union.
A 2005-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, he holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University Chennai, an M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi, and a Ph.D. in Economics from IIT Madras.
With extensive experience in public administration and commerce, he brings a strong background in policy, economics, and strategic affairs to his diplomatic role.
Proficient in English and Hindi, Dr. Balaji is actively engaged in advancing India's bilateral and multilateral interests in Europe, including participation in key events, high-level visits, and initiatives on global issues such as health and sustainability.
