Transparency and good governance
ALFI strives to raise awareness for the leadership role that boards of directors have in promoting integrity, ethical behaviour and professionalism throughout the sector. One of the bases to accomplish this goal is the Code of Conduct.
ALFI’s Code of Conduct (the “Code”) is aimed at enhancing industry transparency, being the foundation of good governance for many funds and management companies in Luxembourg over the past decade.
Updated in 2022, the Code is periodically reviewed providing management bodies with a framework of high-level principles and best practice recommendations for the governance of Luxembourg investment funds and management companies.
Advocacy work
ALFI is actively involved in legal and regulatory initiatives at national and European level by providing comments and position statements.
We regularly participate in meetings with the Luxembourg government, the financial regulator Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), the Haut Comité de la Place Financière (HCPF), the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the EU in Brussels, the European Commission, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and other European supervisory authorities (ESAs).
At the international level, ALFI is a member of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA), of PensionsEurope and of the International Investment Funds Association (IIFA) through representation at the level of the decision-making bodies and through strong and ongoing contribution on working group level.
Knowledge sharing and networking activities
We strive to keep our members informed of regulatory updates in a timely manner and on a continuous basis through our national and international events (conferences, roadshows, thematic events and webinars).
ALFI organises two flagship conferences in Luxembourg every year, aiming to promote the real and practical role that investment funds play in meeting the financing needs of the economy. These major events are invaluable networking spaces, bring together hundreds of professionals, policymakers, regulators, investor associations and industry bodies.
Our work and initiatives are disclosed on our website as well as the content we produce. By means of periodic newsletters, we reach out to our members and other audiences. We are also present on several online communication platforms such as LinkedIn, YouTube and Flickr.
In addition, we also work on a regular basis on researching and publishing numerous brochures, technical guidelines and position papers written in collaboration with our members and made available online.
Work with members
Our members get involved in dozens of ALFI working groups covering relevant industry matters and regulatory developments on an ongoing basis.
ALFI regularly reviews the composition of these working groups to ensure fair representation of its members.
As a means of ensuring information and idea exchange and bring transparency to the work done by the working groups, our members have access to a dedicated online platform that is also used for storage and management of documents and information.
