Total net assets in Luxembourg investment funds hit EUR 5 trillion mark

1 March 2021 | Press Releases

The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) announced today that the total assets under management in Luxembourg domiciled investment funds hit another all-time record of EUR 5,050.132 billion as at 31 January 2021.

This represents an increase of 1.54% over one month compared to EUR 4,973.780 billion at the end of 2020.

The growth was fuelled by the positive impact of financial markets amounting to EUR 35 billion and strong net inflows of EUR 41 billion.

Corinne Lamesch, the Chairperson of ALFI, commented: “Despite considerable challenges the world has been facing and the instability of financial markets last March, the Luxembourg investment fund industry has remained robust with the volume of net assets rising by 5.44% over the last 12 months. This evolution highlights the strong demand for Luxembourg UCITS funds and private assets (private equity, real estate and private debt), which have seen consistent growth over recent years.”

Mrs Lamesch continued: “Looking ahead, ALFI and its members are continuing to focus on new opportunities for the Luxembourg investment fund industry notably in the areas of private assets, sustainable investments, cross-border distribution, pension funds and digitalisation.”
