25 July 2013 | Press Releases

ALFI, the trade body representing the Luxembourg Fund Industry, published the next two podcasts in its educational series “Basics of Investing”. These two short videos explain what an investment fund is and more particularly what a UCITS fund means. They explain the basic principles of how investment funds work, how investors can know the value of their investment and what happens if they want to buy units of an investment fund.

Rudolf Kessel, Chairman of the ALFI Investor Forum explains: “These short films show how investment funds rely on basic principles and provide easy access to a variety of types of assets which are managed by professionals.”

The second podcast presents the UCITS brand in more detail and explains why this type of investment fund, which was developed in Europe, has gained worldwide recognition over the last 25 years.

Rudolf Kessel continues: “Today, UCITS funds are distributed in many countries all over the world and stand for a wide range of investment choices and a high level of investor protection.”

He concluded: “Investor education is one of ALFI’s key priorities and we regularly update our website with valuable information for retail investors within the section Investor centre, which we launched in March 2011.  The final two podcasts in this series, “How do UCITS funds work” and “How UCITS funds can protect investors”, will be published in September this year.”
