ALFI announced today the election of Jean-Marc Goy as the new Chairperson of ALFI, following its annual general meeting. His mandate is effective immediately and will run for two years. In addition, a new Board of Directors has been elected.
Jean-Marc has been a member of the ALFI Board of Directors since June 2019 and was elected Vice-Chairperson of ALFI in 2021. He has participated in a number of ALFI technical committees and working groups over the years and is a regular speaker at industry events.
Jean-Marc is conducting officer and member of the board of Capital Group’s Luxembourg management company and has over 25 years of experience in the Luxembourg fund industry.
Prior to joining Capital Group in 2018, Jean-Marc was Head of International Affairs for the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), the Luxembourg Supervisory Authority of the Financial Sector, where he worked for 20 years. Jean-Marc also practiced as a lawyer at a Luxembourg law firm between 1996 and 1998. He holds a Master in Law and a DEA from the University of Montpellier and was admitted as a lawyer to the Luxembourg Bar. Jean-Marc is fluent in Luxembourgish, German, French, English and Spanish.
Commenting on his election, Jean-Marc Goy said: “It is an honour to have been elected as the new Chairperson of ALFI. Asset managers hold an important role in assisting investors achieve their savings and financial goals while simultaneously promoting economic growth. This role will serve as the cornerstone for the development of the ALFI Ambition Paper, outlining our vision for 2025-2030, which we aim to finalise early next year.”
Building upon the excellent work of the previous ALFI Board, the following three key themes will be top priorities for the current mandate:
1. Continue to strengthen ALFI
The first and foremost objective is to ensure that ALFI is an inclusive and representative association that encompasses the entire Luxembourg investment fund sector. ALFI is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion across all dimensions within our organisation and the industry as a whole.
2. Enhance exchanges with decision-makers and stakeholders
ALFI will maintain its central role by actively engaging in the ongoing process of improving the legal and regulatory framework. A constructive, regular, meaningful and open-minded dialogue with decision-makers, administrations, regulators, investors, professional associations and other stakeholders, both in a national and international context, is key to ensure the development of the investment fund sector.
3. Reinforce Luxembourg’s financial centre
Another priority is to consolidate and reinforce Luxembourg as a thriving financial centre of excellence and a global leader in investment fund activities. ALFI is dedicated to instilling investors’ confidence as it focuses on representing their best interests.
For now, ALFI’s 2025 Ambition Paper, designed and implemented under the four-year leadership of Corinne Lamesch, will form the starting point of our work and remains a strong focus.
Earlier this year ALFI revised the structure and composition of its Board to better reflect the diversity of its stakeholders and enhance inclusiveness. Therefore, the number of Board Directors has increased from 24 to 29.
