ALFI TURNS 35

Since 1988, ALFI has worked alongside stakeholders on the development of the Luxembourg investment fund industry.

Throughout this journey, Luxembourg’s financial centre has developed, and in response so has ALFI’s present and future ambitions.

As a leading voice of the country's asset management and investment fund community, ALFI currently represents over 1,500 Luxembourg domiciled investment funds, numerous asset management companies and a wide range of other companies servicing the sector.

Today, 35 years after setting sail on its voyage, ALFI promotes Luxembourg as the world’s leading cross-border investment fund centre – the largest in Europe and the second largest worldwide. It also supports the transition towards more sustainable economies globally and empowers investors to meet their goals.

For the benefit of its members, ALFI also works on cultivating a collaborative, dynamic and innovative fund ecosystem, championing not only mainstream assets but also sustainable investing and private assets.

In addition, ALFI is committed to improving investors' literacy to make well-informed investment decisions. This work is vital as it serves as the foundation for entrepreneurship, social mobility and inclusive growth.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Helping members capitalise on industry trends

Much of the work carried out by ALFI takes place in its numerous working groups.

In continuation of our initiative started last year, we’ve given the floor to the chairs of the ALFI committees to explain how they work together and what projects kept them busy over the last 12 months. 13 leaders speak in this year’s series “ALFI working groups on stage” covering topics such governance, market infrastructure, risk management, professional training, investor education, TA and distribution or event promotion. We invite you to watch the clips below.

Shaping regulation

An up-to-date, innovative legal and fiscal environment is critical to defend and improve Luxembourg’s competitive position as a centre for the domiciliation, administration and distribution of investment funds. Strong relationships with regulatory authorities, the government and the legislative body enable ALFI to make an effective contribution to decision-making through relevant input for changes to the regulatory framework, implementation of European directives and regulation of new products or services.

ALFI is recognised and valued by policymakers in Europe and the main distribution markets. ALFI provides important industry feedback through consultations, and engages in constructive dialogue with policy makers in the name of its members.
