Initiatives for good governance

Our members are active participants. We encourage our members to actively participate in the work of our technical committees and forums covering industry matters and regulatory developments on an ongoing basis. There are currently 176 ALFI working groups gathering more than 1,600 highly specialised and experienced professionals contributing their expertise.

The ALFI Code of Conduct sets standards for the industry. ALFI strives to raise awareness for the leadership role that boards of directors have in promoting integrity, ethical behaviour and professionalism throughout the sector. The ALFI Code of Conduct outlines industry transparency and internal governance rules.

Initiatives for a strong society

ALFI supports education. ALFI employees commit themselves to financial education, for example by teaching anti-money laundering classes at the University of Luxembourg or by regularly receiving students for general presentations about the Luxembourg fund industry.

ALFI participates in the Job Shadow Day programme organised by Jonk Entrepreneuren (JEL), which allows students from age 16 to “shadow” a business leader over the course of their working day and thus offers a valuable hands-on experience of the business world. By participating in this programme, students can deepen their understanding of

  • the importance of a relevant academic background;
  • the prerequisites for achieving career goals; and
  • the meaning and importance of teamwork within a company.

Jonk Entrepreneuren also organises Fit for Life. This programme provides students aged 14 to 16 with a practical and interactive introduction to money, budgeting, insurance, consumption, and career matters. ALFI staff members are collaborating with JEL in this project, organising educational sessions in schools across Luxembourg.

ALFI supports local social initiatives. ALFI is an official partner of the charity sports event Relais pour la vie. Since 2017, we have been showing our solidarity to patients affected by cancer by participating in the 24-hour team relay that symbolises the journey embarked on by a patient affected by cancer, with its highs and lows.

ALFI wants to support the efforts of social entrepreneurship initiatives and is a founding member of InFiNe Luxembourg and LuxFLAG.

Initiatives for environmental protection

ALFI strives to minimise its environmental impact. Aware of the impact that our activities can have on the environment, ALFI takes practical measures to reduce it.

We encourage soft mobility

  • by replacing staff air travel to European cities with train and bus transportation;
  • by encouraging our staff to use public transport; and
  • by offering ALFI staff annual subscriptions to Luxembourg’s public bicycle hire scheme vél’OH.

 We encourage the use of electronic communication in order to reduce printing material and travel-related CO2 emissions

  • by providing our members with an online platform for easy exchange of information and ideas as well as document storage and management which is currently used by approx. 8,000 fund professionals and
  • by organising webinars and conference calls on a regular basis.

We make a point of consuming local products and engage local service providers where possible.

We have adhered to the ecological waste management policies set out by SuperDrecksKëscht® and have been granted the use of their label since 2014.
