Mission statement

The ALFI Fund Governance Forum aims to increase awareness of and help promote best practice in matters of fund governance. The Forum will coordinate its efforts with ALFI technical committees and relevant external bodies in pursuit of its aims.

The forum aims at developing closer collaboration with ILA (l’Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs), in particular ILA’s funds committee, in order to leverage the efforts between the two organisations.

The forum also deals with EC regulations, coordinates its work with EFAMA’s corporate governance working group and takes account of other transnational guidance (e.g. IOSCO). A member of the forum should be present at each EFAMA corporate governance working group and report on the outcome of such meeting to the forum. In addition, the forum will coordinate its efforts relating to fund governance with the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, when appropriate.

The forum has the responsibility of reviewing and proposing amendments, when necessary, to the ALFI Code of Conduct. The latest version of the ALFI Code of Conduct was published in June 2013 following extensive work performed by members of the forum. The Forum will coordinate its efforts with other industry bodies, notably ILA, in order to develop further guidelines for the implementation of the ALFI Code of Conduct.

If needed, specific working groups will be set up on an ad-hoc basis to respond to consultation papers, initiatives, specific industry governance issues, etc.
