Working in Luxembourg

Careers in the Luxembourg investment fund industry

Investment funds – or undertakings for collective investment (UCIs) – play an essential role in modern wealth management. They are an effective tool for wealth managers and, for the private investor, they offer professional asset management at an affordable price. They also play an increasingly important role in social welfare.

The investment fund sector has mushroomed over the past 20 years. This rapid growth, and the remarkable ingenuity with which financial-services professionals have created products to meet the investor’s every need, have led to a gradual specialisation across the investment fund’s value chain. This has given rise to new professions, such as transfer agent or compliance officer, that are often little known outside the collective savings industry.

This section introduces the careers on offer in the fund industry and, more specifically, in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

This information is also available in a brochure. Another brochure explains to high school students the different careers and degrees leading to them (available in French only).

Young graduates and professionals from around the world choose to come to work and live in Luxembourg. In a brochure published by Luxembourg for Finance, expats explain you why they have chosen Luxembourg.

The professions presented here are constantly changing. Sector professionals must make continual efforts to keep abreast of legal, regulatory and fiscal developments both in Luxembourg and around the world, new financial instruments and techniques, accounting rules and much more.

It is for this reason that ALFI offers, in collaboration with Luxembourg’s banking training institute, the IFBL, a wide range of basic and advanced training courses for sector professionals.
