Camille Thommes, Director General, ALFI
Camille Thommes is the Director General of ALFI, the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry. He joined the association back in 2007. Before ALFI, Camille Thommes was in in charge of the Investment Fund Department at the State and Savings Bank, Luxembourg (BCEE) from 2001-2006, after holding various senior positions in the Securities & Custody department since 1993. He started his professional career in 1986 at Banque Générale du Luxembourg (now BGL-BNP Paribas) where he held positions in the Securities and Custody Division. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Supervisory Authority (CSSF) and a member of the Consultative Committee for Prudential Regulation. Camille is also a 3member of the High-Level Committee of the Financial Centre set up by the Ministry of Finance. Furthermore, he represents ALFI at the Board of Directors of the European Fund and Asset Management association (EFAMA) and is a Board member of PROFIL SA and XBRL asbl. Camille holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg (France), completed the Accelerated Development Program at the London Business School and accomplished traineeships in London and New York. A Luxembourg native, Camille is fluent in English, French and German.

Gilbert Schintgen, CEO, UBS Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A.
Mr. Gilbert Schintgen serves as the Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors at UBS Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. Mr. Schintgen is responsible for identifying all market risks by which the funds are affected, as well as all the operational risks affecting outsourced activities, ensuring that checks are carried out to see that they are kept within predetermined limits. He joined the UBS Fund Management in 1995 and has held a variety of management positions in the area of investment funds. He serves as a Director of Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry. Mr. Schintgen holds a EUPED Diploma from the Centre Universitaire du Luxembourg.

H.E. Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance, Luxembourg
Pierre Gramegna was born on April 22, 1958. He is married and has two children. After finishing high school in Luxembourg, he studied law and economics at the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) where he graduated with a degree (Maîtrise) in civil law in 1981 and a degree (Licence) in economics in 1982. Pierre Gramegna also holds a Master of advanced studies in European community law. Since December 2013 Pierre Gramegna is Minister of Finance of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. He was the Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg from September 2003 to December 2013. From 2002 to 2003 he has been the Director of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. From 1996 until 2002, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Luxembourg to Japan.

Simon Bryceson, Issues Management & Strategy Consultant, Region of Brussels
Simon Bryceson has a unique combination of hands-on experience as a pressure group activist, senior political organiser and consultant to over 400 multinational corporations and institutions. He was a full-time pressure group activist for the environmental group Friends of the Earth, provided consultancy to over 40 NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and, as deputy general secretary of the British Liberal Party, was involved in the daily work of party political strategy and campaigning. He also worked as a full-time lobbyist and ran his own consultancy, working in both Westminster and the European Parliament and Commission. He was Director of Public Affairs for the international public relations company Burson-Marsteller in London until 1998. Currently he runs Bryceson, a hand-picked team of consultants specialising in the area of public opinion, media, politics and issues management. Simon Bryceson was made a Member of the order of the British Empire for political services in the United Kingdom in 1993.

Nicolas Mackel, CEO, Luxembourg for Finance, Luxembourg

Nicolas Mackel is CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, the Agency for the Development of the Financial Centre, since July 2013. Nicolas is a career diplomat. He has graduated with a law degree from the University of Aix-en-Provence, and holds two post-graduate diplomas in European law from the Sorbonne University, respectively the College of Europe in Bruges where he then also served as a teaching assistant in the Law Department. He worked as a legal clerk at the European Court of Justice before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. His assignments focused on the successive EU Treaty negotiations (Amsterdam, Nice, Constitution, Lisbon). Nicolas was consecutively posted at Luxembourg's Permanent Representation to the EU (2002-07), as Deputy Chief of Mission at Luxembourg's Embassy in Washington DC (2007-11) and as Consul General in Shanghai (2011-13) where he was in charge of promoting Luxembourg's economic interests throughout China as the Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office.

Heinz Hofmann, CEO, HSBC Global Asset Management (Switzerland) Ltd., Zurich

Heinz Hofmann holds the Chief Executive Officer position at HSBC Global Asset Management (Switzerland) Limited and is responsible for the distribution of HSBC funds in Switzerland. He joined HSBC Group in 2003 and held several positions in Business Development and Private Banking. He gained experience in the fund industry over the last 25 years and worked for several fund management houses during that time.

Christoph Halbluetzel, Managing Director Switzerland, Lombard International Assurance S.A., Zurich

Christoph joined Lombard International Assurance in 2015 as Managing Director, Head of Switzerland. He is responsible for developing and growing the company’s wealth management activity and commercial strategy in Switzerland. Christoph began his professional career in the insurance industry in Switzerland and France in 1989 prior to moving to the banking industry where he held various senior positions in wealth management in Switzerland, covering several countries in EMEA.

Martin Möller, Digital Strategy & Transformation, Credit Suisse Financial Services, Zurich

Following several roles within Credit Suisse’s Global Strategy Department as well as Premium Clients Division with a focus on market-, segment and operating strategy as well as business innovation topics, Martin is today part of the bank’s digital transformation efforts. He is responsible for driving the development of the front-to-back digitalization strategy for the Swiss Universal Bank’s private client businesses from retail & affluent clients over HNWIs to UHNWIs. In addition, working closely with different front units he is developing new private as well as corporate client business models responding to shifting client needs and changing competitive dynamics.

Jean Keller, CEO, QUAERO Capital SA, Geneva
Prior to joining QUAERO Capital in February 2011, Jean Keller was the CEO of 3A (Alternative Asset Advisors) from 2005 to 2011. Before he spent 11 years assuming various responsibilities within the Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch group in Geneva, New York and London. From 1988 to 1992, he was investment manager and investment analyst with Baring Asset Management in London and Hong Kong. Jean Keller holds a Degree in International Relations from the University of Geneva and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania, with a major in Finance.

Olivier Carré, Partner, PwC, Luxembourg
Olivier Carré is a partner in the Financial Services Advisory Department of PwC Luxembourg. He has gained extensive experience in the review and design or Private Equity operational set-ups, controls and workflows. He has assisted Private Equity Managers and Service Providers on a number of assignments, including assistance in operational reviews, drafting of operating memoranda and assistance in the creation of private equity desks. He is member of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive workgroup.

Gast Juncker, Partner, Elvinger Hoss Prussen, Luxembourg

Gast Juncker's principal fields of activity are investment funds and investment companies. He advises clients in relation to the set-up and structuring of their Luxembourg investment fund operations. He had been admitted to the Luxembourg Bar in April 1993. Gast Joined Elvinger, Hoss & Prussen in February 1993 and became partner at Elvinger, Hoss & Prussen in 2000. He is a member of the IBA and of various work groups of ALFI (Luxembourg investment fund association).


 
Dominik Rutishauser, Executive Director, Head Business Development Private Labelling, GAM Investment Management (Switzerland) Ltd., Zurich

Dominik Rutishauser has been working in the financial industry for over 15 years. He started his career as legal engineer at the fund management company of UBS. Thereafter he held various positions at UBS (ABS structurer and credit portfolio manager) and at Swiss Re (credit structurer and underwriter for commodity trade finance) before he joined GAM’s private labelling team in 2009. Dominik has a Master of Law and an Executive MBA from the University of Fribourg respectively the University of Strathclyde.

Gudrun Göbel, Executive Director – Network & Client Relationships, FundRock Management Company S.A., Luxembourg

Gudrun Göbel joined FundRock in June 2014 as Executive Director Operations and COO with responsibility for the fund risk management and investment compliance monitoring, delegates and depositary oversight, Data Management as well as client relationship management. She actively engages in various market associations. Gudrun has been appointed Executive Director Network & Client Relationships in September 2016, which includes the management of our executive relationships with industry associations, other industry participants and the executive client relationships. Prior to joining FundRock in June 2014, Gudrun held various positions at State Street and SGSS Luxembourg, where she was recently as COO for Fund Processing Services. Gudrun holds a diploma in mathematics and economics.

Daniela Klasén-Martin, Managing Director, Country Head, Crestbridge S.A., Luxembourg

Daniela’s career has crossed borders and spanned the width of the financial sector. She arrived in Luxembourg in 1997 and has hold positions as Head of Finance and CEO/Managing Director, gaining strong expertise in providing corporate governance and risk management services for both UCITS and alternative Funds. Joining Crestbridge Luxembourg in 2010 as Managing Director and Country Head, she has led the firm to be one of the first third party management companies to provide services to AIFMs/AIFs, UCITS as well as VC Funds. She also acts as Director and Conducting Officer for UCITS, AIFs and AIFMs, investing in both financial and non-financial assets. Mrs Klasén-Martin contributes actively to the Fund Industry, sitting on a number of ALFI committees within risk management and fund governance and as a member of ILA (Luxembourg Institute of Directors) and of ALRiM (the Luxembourg Association for Risk Management professionals). She is frequently speaking at fund events on topics such as risk management and fund governance.

Hermann Beythan, Partner, Linklaters LLP, Luxembourg
Hermann is the head of the Investment Management group of Linklaters Luxembourg where he has been a partner since 1998. Besides his decades-long UCITS practice, he is renowned for his work on cross-border financial services regulation, international private placements and outsourcing arrangements. He advises on the structuring of complex alternative investment fund set-ups and socially responsible fund structures. He is furtheractive in several industry committees (ABBL/ALFI/CSSF) and a regular conference speaker.

Michael Kehl, Managing Director, UBS AG, Global Asset Management, Zurich
As Head of Products EMEA & Switzerland, Michael Kehl ensures development and management of the EMEA / Switzerland domiciled product range in line with the strategic ambitions of UBS Asset Management. He ensures optimal product coverage for Asset Management Distribution with the main focus on UCITS products and CH-domiciled products. Michael started his career in Portfolio Management for private clients and institutional clients before he entered the fund product development and management area in 2004. Michael studied at the Zürcher Fachhochschule, Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Verwaltung Zurich (Economics and Administration) and is a CFA Charterholder since 2006.

Simon Ramos, Partner, Deloitte, Luxembourg

Simon is a Partner in Deloitte Luxembourg’s Advisory & Consulting practice. He has over 20 years of professional experience in the field of investment funds and banking institutions, covering strategic, operational and regulatory aspects. Its major customers are Asset Management and International Banking groups having an establishment in Luxembourg and in the EMEA region at large. Simon is coordinating Deloitte Luxembourg’s Investment Management services for the Advisory & Consulting function. He is also centralizing the Regulatory services rendered to financial institutions. Simon also holds various coordination roles within Deloitte’s Investment Management industry at EMEA level. He is the chief editor of the "Performance" publication, Deloitte’s first Global and sector related publication. He is leading Deloitte’s EMEA regulatory watch services rendered to asset managers and asset servicers. Simon is the co-chairman of ALFI’s Investor Forum.

Philippe Burgener, Counsel, Elvinger Hoss Prussen, Luxembourg

Philippe Burgener’s practice concentrates on collective asset management and investment funds. He advises a number of investment fund promoters and other financial institutions in relation to the set-up and structuring of their Luxembourg investment fund operations. He is a member of the Bar of the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland and joined Elvinger Hoss Prussen in 2007. He was admitted to the Luxembourg Bar in May 2007 under his home title. Philippe became counsel in 2012. He is a "licencié en droit" from the "Université de Fribourg" and holds an LLM in European Economic Law from the University of Zürich. Before joining Elvinger Hoss Prussen, he worked for the SWX Swiss Exchange Disclosure Office, becoming its head in 2004. He has also worked as a Compliance Officer for Vontobel Fonds Services AG, dealing with investment funds in Switzerland and Luxembourg. He is fluent in English, French and German.

Stéphane Ries is Head of Institutions Desk – Group Business Development of KBL epb S.A. in Luxembourg.
Prior to working for KBL, Stéphane was with Fidelity Investments, Luxembourg for 2 years and has 3 years’ experience as Regional Sales & Logistics Manager in a Luxembourg-based industrial company.
Stéphane has extensive experience in structuring and administering Luxembourg-based investment funds. He is a member of several working groups and commissions on investment and pension funds within the Luxembourg Fund Association (ALFI) and the Luxembourg Banks and Bankers Association (ABBL). He is a visiting professor (Investment Fund Industry Chair) at HEC-ULG (Université de Liège), Belgium. Martin Jufer, Member of the Group Management Board, GAM, Zurich

Steve David, Country Head for Northern Trust’s Luxembourg office, is responsible for leading and managing the continued expansion of its specialist fund servicing and custody operations.
Steve started his professional career as an auditor at Price Waterhouse in 1994, and left four years later to join the Chase Manhattan Bank Luxembourg S.A., where he worked in the Quality Assurance and Compliance/Fiduciary departments. In 2000, he took on the position of Compliance Officer at IKANO Advisory Management S.A. Steve has over 20 years experience in the investment funds industry. Steve is, since November 2015, the President of the Association of North American Bankers in Luxembourg (ANABL).

Martin Jufer, Member of the Group Management Board, Head of Operations, GAM, Zurich
Martin Jufer is Region Head of Continental Europe. He became a member of GAM Holding AG’s Group Management Board in April 2013. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer and head of products and services of GAM group. Martin Jufer joined Julius Baer Asset Management as an investment controller in 1996 and subsequently became responsible for fund administration, middle office and IT. Prior to that, he worked as an auditor with Ernst & Young in Zurich. Martin Jufer holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and a Swiss Federal Diploma for Financial Analysts and Portfolio Managers. He is also a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is based in Zurich.

Kai has more than 10 years experience as a consultant at Ernst & Young in the alternative investment sector. He also gained significant hands-on experience while working as head of operations for a leading German service provider both in terms of administration and custody in Luxembourg. In this position, Kai was in charge of accounting, transfer agency and reporting for 25 PE and RE funds and 80 Luxembourg domiciled companies and SPVs.

 

 

Yannick Arbaut, Counsel, Allen & Overy, Luxembourg

Yannick specialises in the structuring, setting up, and registration of regulated funds (UCITS, Part II funds, SIFs and SICARs) and unregulated funds (limited partnerships) for institutional and non-institutional investors in a variety of areas including private equity, real estate, equity, bonds and derivatives. Yannick also provides ongoing regulatory advice to clients on Luxembourg investment funds and other areas of law relating to the funds business and transactions (ie, finance, corporate, derivatives, etc). Giuliano Bidoli, Partner, KPMG, Luxembourg

Giuliano Bidoli is Tax Partner in the Alternative Investments Department with KPMG. He is a national tax adviser, with over 15 years of work experience, including international taxation, cross-border tax planning and reorganizations.  Giuliano is heading the tax practice of M&A in Luxembourg and has permanent involvement in international tax planning (European holding, headquarters and finance structures, mergers and acquisitions, group restructurings and reorganizations). Giuliano works closely with national and international clients in the Private Equity, Hedge Funds and corporate sectors in designing and executing complex multijurisdictional investments and transactional structures. His practice supports multinational corporate, private equity  and hedge funds clients on tax matters related to merger and acquisitions, debt restructuring. Kavitha Ramachandran, Senior Manager , Business Development and Client Management, Maitland
Kavitha joined Maitland in 2001. She is responsible for managing Maitland’s institutional clients services (excluding South Africa), including client relationship management and business development. Her areas of expertise cover investment fund structures and domiciles and operations (fund accounting and reporting, transfer agency and corporate governance). Kavitha also has experience in Luxembourg company structures and trusts and finance. She was responsible for the transfer of the fund administration services for the offshore funds administered by Maitland in Luxembourg to its sister company in South Africa. Prior to joining Maitland, Kavitha was with Liberty Ermitage S.A. in Luxembourg.

Yvonne Stillhart, Independent Chairman of Private Equity organizations, Enoha GmbH
Yvonne Stillhart is an independent non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of an AIFM private equity manager investing in Europe. She is also the non-executive Chairman of a Private Equity investment fund listed on the JSE. Yvonne is a seasoned Private Equity specialist who successfully built a leading private equity organization and has extensive investment experience.  She is also an independent Chairman of the Board and Finance Committees of several JFSC regulated private equity investment funds (direct investments, secondary investments and fund-of-funds) focusing on Europe. Yvonne also acts as non-executive Director to a private equity fund with a direct investment focus on the Sub-Sahara and South-African region. Yvonne is also an independent advisor to various types of organizations in a range of private equity related topics such as investments, portfolio- and risk management, corporate governance, organizational set-up and restructurings.

Sachin Vankalas is a seasoned finance professional, with over a decade of professional experience in Asset Management and in particular in Impact and Responsible Investing. At present he works for LuxFLAG as a Head of Operations and Sustainability where he primarily works with Investment Funds active in Responsible / Sustainable Investing themes which include Microfinance, Climate, ESG, Impact Finance, etc. Prior to joining LuxFLAG, Sachin worked first as an Investment Officer for a Swiss Asset Management firm in Zurich and before as a Analyst in an International Rating Agency.  Sachin completed executive education programs in Finance and Sustainability from Harvard University & NYU Stern  and holds a MS in Banking and Finance from the Luxembourg School of Finance.

Angela de Wolff, Founding Partner Conser, Vice President Swiss Sustainable Finance, Geneva

Angela de Wolff has been active in the financial sector since 22 years, with a focus on Responsible Investment (RI). Among others she has been leading the sustainability team at Lombard Odier bank. In 2007, she capitalized on her experience to create www.conser.ch an independent firm specialized on responsible investment. Angela is co-founder of Sustainable Finance Geneva. She is on the Board of “Banque Cantonale de Genève” (BCGE) and Vice-President of the platform « Swiss Sustainable Finance ». Ms. de Wolff obtained a Master in economics from the Lausanne University in 1989. She became a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) in 2000

Maurice Bauer, Secretary General, Luxembourg Stock Exchange
Maurice Bauer is a municipal councillor of the City of Luxembourg. He is currently Secretary General of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Before joining, he was for six years Secretary General of CETREL. Previously, he began his training as a lawyer at Schiltz & Schiltz law firm before joining the Dexia-BIL Group as a legal advisor. He is in charge of the X Principles of Corporate Governance of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and member of the CSSF expert group on corporate governance. Maurice Bauer holds a master in law of the University of Strasbourg. During his studies, he worked as journalist at the European Parliament and at the Council of Europe.
Eric Borremans, Sustainability Expert, Pictet Asset Management, Geneva

Eric Borremans is responsible for the development and implementation of sustainable investment strategies at Pictet Asset Management. Before joining Pictet Asset Management in 2013, he spent eleven years with BNP Paribas Investment Partners in Paris where he was successively in charge of ESG research, proxy voting, SRI development, and CSR.  He was previously Head of Research Services with Sustainable Asset Management (Zurich) until 2002.   He started his career in 1992 at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) advising multinational companies and public sector entities on environmental, health and safety issues. Eric holds a degree in Finance from Solvay Business School (Brussels) and an MBA in environmental management from Columbia Business School (New York).  He was vice-Chair of the Institutional Investor’s Group on Climate Change from 2008 to 2015, and currently sits on FTSE Russell’s Environmental Markets Advisory Committee and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) Standards Board.

With more than 30 years of experience in the Luxembourg finance and fund industry, Germain Birgen, a Luxembourg national, is now a Director at Banque de Luxembourg,  heading up the business development  for its professional banking services. Prior to this, he was the Managing Director and Head of HSBC Securities Services Luxembourg and more recently led the Client Solutions Europe division within RBC Investor and Treasury Services. Over the years, he has been an active member of various industry bodies among which the Luxembourg Stock Exchange Commission, the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) as well as Luxembourg for Finance (LFF).

Marc Meyers, Partner, Loyens & Loeff, Luxembourg

Marc Meyers heads the Luxembourg investment management team of Loyens & Loeff. Marc specialises in advising clients in respect of the structuring, regulatory and transactional work for Luxembourg alternative investment fund structures, with a particular focus on private equity, debt and property funds. In addition, besides his fund-related work, he has broad experience in corporate and secured financing work. Marc is an active member of several working groups within the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), as well as the Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (LPEA). He is a member of the Luxembourg and New York Bars.

Dr. Thomas Goergen is co-founder and Managing Director of Luxembourg Investment Solutions S.A., an AIFM and UCITS Management Company, and co-founder and Managing Partner of Compliance Partners S.A., a CSSF regulated MiFID Investment Firm. In addition, he is a Director for various Luxembourg Alternative Investment Funds. Previously, he was Managing Director of cominvest Asset Management S.A., a UCITS ManCo of Allianz Global Investors Group, and Managing Director and Member of the Board of Münchner Kapitalanlage AG, a BaFin regulated Management Company. Thomas was a visiting Doctoral Fellow at The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania, USA) and received a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol) in Finance and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Trier University, Germany.

Gilles Dusemon is a partner in the private equity/real estate investments practice of Arendt & Medernach and a member of the firm’s strategy board. He specialises in the formation of alternative investment funds (AIF). He has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1997. Gilles Dusemon is actively involved with the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI). He serves as co-chairman of ALFI's Private Equity and Venture Capital Working Group. He is also a founding member of LPEA, the Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, and is sitting on its Executive Board. Gilles Dusemon holds a Master's degree in business and tax law from the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis (France), as well as an LL.M. in International Taxation from New York University (2000).
