The 2013 ALFI conference takes place amid a watershed moment for the industry, as the long-awaited Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) finally comes into force, transforming the way that the global fund industry operates.
AIMFD, which is due to take effect in July, promises to change the landscape for how firms attract and manage their assets, and managers face a number of challenges to succeed in the new environment. An experienced panel of experts at the conference will outline these challenges and demonstrate how they can be turned to the advantage of fund managers.
Luxembourg leads the way in providing structures and advice that give alternatives firms an advantage when distributing their products worldwide. It is a world leader in cross-border fund distribution, with 2,405 billion euros (at January 31st, 2013) in net assets under management, second only to the US. It has already moved to transpose AIFMD into national law and provide global fund management firms with a standard that is recognized and trusted across the globe.
The conference will also feature:
• A panel discussion on the key issues facing the industry in 2013 and beyond
• Interactive sessions on hedge funds, real estate, private equity and UCITS
• A workshop on responsible investment – a new theme for this year’s conference
Expert speakers and panellists have been drawn from the Luxembourg and UK fund industries, and have been chosen for their profile, experience and know-how.
The conference, which will open with an address by H.E. Luc Frieden, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, is free of charge to fund professionals and includes a complementary buffet lunch.
