Getting started with (UCITS) investment funds
UCITS (abbreviation for Undertakings for Collective Investments in Transferable Securities) is a term that applies to the majority of investment funds in Europe that are offered to private investors. It comes from a European Union directive that provides a uniform set of rules governing how these funds should be structured and managed, and provides a very high degree of investor protection. Funds that meet these criteria can be registered for sale to the public in any EU country.
